Please remember Plato is brand new. Whilst we've tested and are confident our 1.0 release is ready for production (we are running this on our own site) this is a 1.0 release of a large project and as such we would be very naive to not expect any bugs. We will of course be addressing bugs as quickly as possible during the 1.0.x release. If you encounter any issues with Plato we would love to hear from you. Please report any bugs or issues via our own issues area which of course is now also powered by Plato.
What does Plato mean for InstantForum customers?
If your using our ASP.NET full framework InstantForum product you can of course continue to use InstantForum without any issues. We will be offering a migration path in the coming months that will allow InstantForum customers to migrate to Plato if they wish. We will of course continue to support and develop InstantForum however large feature updates will likely slow down whilst we focus on bringing Plato upto feature parity with InstantForum. We will continue to provide security and minor updates for InstantForum as necessary.
What does Plato mean for InstantKB customers?
If your using our ASP.NET full framework InstantKB product you can of course continue to use InstantKB without any issues. Why is Plato free?
We want people to use Plato but also we want to create a thriving eco-system of modules that extend & add value to Plato. We can't do this alone. We will hopefully be supporting Plato through paid priority support and hosting options. This is a new direction for us but we are hoping this will increase adoption and help grow a community around Plato.
We sincerely hope you enjoy Plato or like the direction we are heading. Plato has been a labour of love for the last 3 years. We are excited to finally share what we've been working on but of course this is just the beginning. We have lots planned for Plato and would love to know what you want. Don't hesitate to pop into our new ideas area also powered by Plato to suggest your ideas or vote on your favoirite ideas. We will be prioritizing future improvements for Plato based on the most up voted ideas within our new ideas area.
